Galway Sailsports Club and 24th Galway Sea Scouts (Port of Galway) dipped their collective toes into the Cong Galway Race this year.
These are a few pics I took along the way on a very nice Gawlay day with even better company.

Took these a few months back while walking on the Salthill Prom, Galway and it must be said Salthill was looking its very best that day.
Today was a nice summer day and I was sitting outside having my lunch in the garden when this chap caught my eye. I thought about running for the camera and decided against it and continued with my cup of tea. However the butterfly stayed for a good while on one set of flowers on the bush then moved to another. With that I ran for the camera and the butterfly was still there when I got back, phew!
I have decided that it is a Red Admiral. More info about butterflies can be found here on the butterfly-conservation.org website.
Last October 16, saw Open House hit Galway. I opted to go on the waterway tour at 12 on Saturday which started at Wolfe Tone bridge. There was an excellent turn out. Initially this was a bit of a problem as it was difficult to hear the guide with that and the traffic noise. Once we got away from there it got much better and proved to be my high light of the day. The guide was excellent, really knew her suff and could pass it on with ease. I learned so much about how the Corrib and associated waterways. I have some badly taken photos and some voice memos to go with the day which I will post once I have done a bit of editing.
